Iraq changes rules for imported tires

In order to protect public security, Iraq’s Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) recently modified the testing scheme for imported auto tire’s safety performance, according to the news issued by the State General Administration of Quality Supervision.

In the new scheme, France BV becomes the only authoritative institution providing certification. The former testing agencies were Switzerland's SGS and France's BV.

After the adjustment, BV Company required Iraq’s tire importers to test security performance by Iraq's standards, instead of SGS’ European e-Mark certification.

This is the first time for Iraq to largely adjust auto tire import regulations since May 1st, 2011, when its Product Conformity Certification Scheme was implemented.
