More tire makers likely to reduce production under environmental inspections

The Ministry of Environment Protection will conduct inspections in 15 provinces and autonomous regions from April, under which the industries of tire, steel and coal may have to reduce production.

Shandong province, the largest tire making province in China, will receive a new round of environment inspections soon.

The rubber and tire sectors, which discharge large amounts of volatile organics, are among the list for contigency control of the Ministry of Environment Protection.

Rubber and tire manufacturers were among the main inspecting targets of the Ministry of Environment Protection in the air quality improving campaign.

Small and midsize tire makers in China face an accumulating pressure of environment protection. Those with substandard production techniques in terms of environment protection will probably have to shut down.

The Ministry of Environment Protection will spread the inspection activities to all the provinces across China in 2017.

Altogether 1,543 enterprises have been required to shut down or halt production inShijiazhuang of Hebei province since the end of last year.
