China’s PV wholesale volume in Q1 drops 14.2% from a year ago

China's PV wholesale volume in March dropped 9.7% year on year to 1,917,129 units and totaled 5,147,168 units for the first quarter, declining 14.2% over the year ago period(PV hereby refers to car, MPV and SUV), according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Compared to the previous month, China's PV wholesale volume in March presented a remarkable growth of 58.7%. The car, MPV and SUV segments all gained month-on-month surge of over 55%, while posted year-on-year decline exceeding 9%.

The PV retail sales in China amounted to 1,740,300 units in March, soaring 48.2% from a month ago, while still falling 12.1% from a year ago. For the first three months, the cumulative PV retail sales for this country slide 10.5% year on year to 5,077,549 units.

Compared with February, the first four places of automaker ranking by March PV wholesale volume were still occupied by SAIC Volkswagen, FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC-GM and Geely Auto. Dongfeng Nissan and SAIC-GM-Wuling, ranking fifth and sixth respectively, got their places reversed over a month ago. GAC Honda dropped one place to the tenth, while the ninth occupant was replaced with Dongfeng Honda. Besides, SAIC Motor PV, ranking 10th in February, was not included in the top 10 list this time.
